Rich History of Currie Green

The area of Currie was first designated for military use in 1911, in preparation for World War I. Established as Currie Barracks in 1933, named after Sir Arthur William Currie, this site has played an integral role in Canada’s military history. Having transitioned from military operations to a flourishing residential community since its decommissioning in 1998, Currie Green honours its heritage by preserving and repurposing historic buildings, allowing every resident to connect with the area’s legacy.
